SeeSaw Studio
What type of work does your organization do?
SeeSaw Studio provides workshops and apprenticeships for youth ages 12-18 focusing on Design, Entrepreneurship, Art and Life Skills.

Durham, North Carolina
Who do you work with?
SeeSaw Studio works with teens ages 12-18 years old from all walks of life, with a special commitment on recruiting and developing youth from underserved communities.
What is the main obstacle your organization encounters that prevents you from doing your work most effectively?
Right now our biggest obstacle is trying to secure permanent space to conduct our program and develop our vision to its greatest capacity.
What do you hope to gain from joining the Rural Innovation Network?
Partnership, Information, Other
If you listed "Other" above, please list specifics below:
Assistance to identify dependable and dynamic youth-serving organizations, located in outlying areas of Durham, where we can establish satellite sites for regular entry-level workshops.

The NonProfit Mafia Blog, Issue 2, Volume 1: It Doesn't Matter If You're Close to Dying

This week I spent several days at Duke fighting a terrible bout with the flu. I've been sick for several months, but have been pushing myself in order to earn my stripes as E.D. of this organization. The last straw for my son when he came home from school and found me lying across my laptop, trying to make a grant deadline, sweating and throwing up (but still typing!). He and my boyfriend carried me into the car and rushed me to the E.R. I had almost 105 temp and my heart rate was 144. I was str… Continue

Rumbley - I can't meet tomorrow, on a grant deadline (again). I am meeting John Parker on the 29th from 1-3 - perhaps you can ask him if it's cool to come by during that time. We are meeting at SeeSaw and brownbagging it.
