The County has a few programs to help people with convictions : If you are on Parole you call your Parole officer and ask for an assessment, and they can help. And locally Solano County just had Clean Slate day on 3/14/09 which was hosted by Legal S…

Fourth Solution Salon : The Mayor of Vallejo, Osby Davis sent a letter hand delivered by the Vice Mayor!

Hermie Sunga, the Vice Mayor of Vallejo, attended Solano Green Alliances Solution Salon to present a letter that was written by the Mayor of Vallejo, Osby Davis, to me, supporting this mission!!! I was so moved. I read the letter to the group. The Human Relation Commission representative from the City of Vallejo, Donald Chun also attended the Solution Salon, he was going to read the Mayors pledge, but since the personal letter arrived from the Mayor, he did not. Earlier this week, I had also rec… Continue

Our website is up! It is: solanogreenalliance.com

It took me forever to get the website up, because I had to build it myself, and of course, being GREEN at that too, it was quite an undertaking. This is all a work in progress. But we have a TRAINING page thanks to our partners at Green edu.net and offer can now offer training courses to those who are interested. There will me more courses made available soon. We are preparing for the final March Solution Salon, and it should be pretty good. bp solar, Fighting Back Partnership, and the Human Rel… Continue

The third Solution Salon 3/21/09

I almost cancelled the third event, because I have a bad case of bronchitis. We thought some people would still show up and some did. It was FREEZING cold outdoors . So we met indoors. Even though I was sick I went to the Vallejo Saturday Farmers Market that morning and bought vegetables for the soup . While there, I met a singer who had a beautiful voice. A blues band was playing and he was singing to them from across the crowd. His name was Squeeze. I asked him to come to the next event and he… Continue

Our second Solution Salon 3/14/09

3/14/09 was a freezing cold blustery day. The weather was not condusive to an outdoor meeting. So we met indoors. We served vegetable soup and hot tea. Although we are certain the weather dissuaded many people from attending, we had a solid group of caring individuals that did attend. We did not have any musicians or other entertainment , but this is a work in progress and we expect this to change. We provided information on going Green and had printed information for people to read up on from t… Continue

Solano Green Alliance's first Solution Salon report

We opened our doors to the community, but had not done a press release , invitations, or any other advertising so our turn out was very small. I thought, well, if one person shows up, then that is a success... and well, two people showed up. So it may have been a small success... but I wasn't feeling very successful. But realized the errors we had made. Duh, you have to invite people, not just announce it to the Nation on-line. Thank goodness I made soup for about a hundred... so that was sort o… Continue

For disclaimer sake I want to declare the Solano Green Alliance is not a County, project, meaning, while I am an Employment Resource Specialist at the County, Solano Green Alliance is a separate entity.

Thank you for your support! I want it known that Solano Green Alliance is very grateful for what help you can provide . I am very grateful to you who helped set up this page. Very grateful. As we are just starting up, we are essentially " Green". That's my Green joke, I hope that made you laugh. Sometimes, I feel like all I got is a dream. Thanks to people like you I will see this dream to fruition. Currently many people are getting involved in this and I am so very grateful . My husband son and I ate dinner last night, at Gaia, for the first time. Gaia is Napa Valleys first Energy and Environmentally designed hotel and spa. It was so lovely. It was a five star dining experience, and we would recommend it to all who are interested in the movement. The food was organically grown , locally produced. Exceptional.
