- What is the name your organization?
- Southern Rural Development Initiative
- What type of work does your organization do?
- SRDI works to increase income, assets, and racial equity in regions of the rural South with persistent poverty. Specifically, we focus on strengthening grassroots economic development efforts that respect, honor, and preserve local culture, heritage and the natural environment while simultaneously working to resolve the crippling legacy of racism and other oppressions in the rural South. I am a program associate for SRDI's Grassroots Support Project.
- What area of the country do you work in?
- SRDI has offices in Raleigh and Asheville, NC but we work across the Southeast
- Who do you work with?
- Amazing , dedicated, passionate people throughout the region! Right now, the Grassroots Support Project is working with three anchor institutions in Coastal Georgia, East Tennessee, and the Black Belt of Alabama.
- What do you hope to gain from joining the Rural Innovation Network?
- All of the Above
